SAVE ON CAR INSURANCE ETC

Post by space man on Tue Jul 26, 2011 8:15 pm

Having just received my renewal notice for my van at 420 euros I decided to look around and came up with a very competative quote at 303 euros for a Lloyds undewritten policy with the same cover and benefits, over a 26% saving. The company can be contacted at [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] or tel 961 129 215 . Mention the cave forum, I have no connection with this business. Spicey

The excess on most car insurance policies is usually set at around 250€, but you can ask for different amounts obviously.

My three (above) were all quoted with an excess of 250€.

Will reply to your Medical Insurance question on your other thread!!!

Bill Bliss

I tried Beneficial - they called me next morning after I emailed em. They quoted £160 less than lineadirecta for the same cover. I called Linea Directa to say I wouldn't be renewing as I had been give a better offer and they said I had left it too late - I needed to give em a weeks notice before cancelling- luckily for me they were still able to almost matched Beneficial's quote - just 3 Euros over.

I recommed Bill Bliss - from Beneficial though - give em a call.

How bout that.

Need cave insurance now.
Santalucia didn't help us with a problem we had last year so want to give em a swerve next time. Any ideas?

It's a bit of a secret but the cheapest company to use by far, and the one which 60 percent of Spanish use is Groupama. Its a complete mith that LD are best Groupama have been cheaper by over half compared to LD my current insurance cost just over 200 euro but LD wanted almost 400 euro for the same cover.

What's the saying when in Spain do like the Spanish do !!!!!

They have an office in Baza or you can get a quote from their website but you will need to visit a branch to complete the paperwork.

Using the Branch in Baza cuts out the middle man so your not paying 3rd party fees, you can spread the cost in either 2 or 4 payments and all their policy's automatically include breakdown cover, legal defence, fine fighting and windows as standard as well as unlimited green card.

They also do cover for Cave's and Medical however the staff in Baza speak little English.

Lisa, just goes to show what a rip off the high profile high advertising companies are. I gave Beneficial no quote for comparison they came straight up with a very competative quote. They speak English coz they are, allowed me to pay in 2 instalments and didn't have to get off my arse and go anywhere. From my experiences with Spanish businesses, as you leave don't turn ya back unless wearing stab proof vest. Spicey

Thanks Boothjendar Smile looks interesting will give them a try next time, we renew the car insurance. Sounds like they offer the same as Linea Directa coverage, but a lot cheaper. Must admit only used Linea Directa for the ease of the language, just being lazy on our part.

No doubt Beneficial are a good Brit brokerage Keith however their offices are over 2hrs from most of us here, so not particularly local besides not everyone needs or wants to use an exclusively British ex pat firm when a lot of the time the long establish Spanish Companies are as good, especially here where they understand the needs of a community of mostly troglodytes and can over insurance and assurance solutions for every situation.

Besides you can't have things both ways you said on another topic thread ''Well done the British, always rely on them to keep a business going NOT. No wonder UK is on it's knees if this is an example of getting the job done. ''

Thanks for the Private Message by the way, was there really a need to be so unpleasant? I was merely offering an alternative.

Thanks for insurance info, I will get a quote. Be warned that all Spanish insurance companies require 2 full months notice to cancel. We got caught out when we were insured with Groupama and thought we had cancelled. We renewed with another company and received threats of court action from Groupama as we hadn't given them the correct notice!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone know of a good, sensibly priced health insurance?

Thanks La,

Could you explain a bit more about your post I'm well aware that Spain has some peculiarities but I was under the impression that insurance policies are designed to run for 12 months and the premium is paid for a full year. I thought then that if it was cancelled mid-term and no other policy taken out we'd be breaking the agreement to insure for the full year. I would expect that if a policy is cancelled there might be some costs that have to be paid for, such as administration, documentation and commission to the agent that arranged it. These costs would have to be covered no matter how long the policy runs. Therefore I thought that if you cancel within 12 months you will be charged on a short period, rather than a pro-rata, basis and you might even get a refund.

Surely if a policy runs for the full period, a renewal notice would be issued which can either be accepted or declined in order to shop around ?

I can't fathom the circumstances which you describe so would be grateful for more info as its certainly something people won't want to get caught out by.

Re: SAVE ON CAR INSURANCE ETC

Post by la on Fri Sep 09, 2011 4:39 pm

Sorry, should have clarified. Our car insurance with Groupama was coming to the end of its term, we told the broker that we did't wish to renew as we had found a cheaper quote.( they neglected to tell us of the 2 months cancellation notice, and yes we did argue our case, but to no avail!!!) It was only after we had taken the better quote, that we received the threat of court action from Groupama, via recorded delivery post,so we had to pay. You will find the notification of cancellation terms in the booklet supplied with your policy-fine print near the back!!! Our only saving grace, was that we bought a second vehicle, an old banger for nipping to town, and were able to transfer the Groupama insurance (that we were obligated to pay) on to this vehicle. It's bad enough having to fork out once for car insurance, but to pay twice really hurt!

Sorry if I've confused you ( it's one of my many talents ). Basically if you need to cancel car insurance, ( with spanish companies ) it must be done 2 months before the expiry date or you will have to pay.

I do hope this makes sense????
