I'm new!
Hi everybody,
not normally one for forums but this one seems a lot more civilised than most!
Bought a cave house near Baza back in June. Me, partner and two children will be travelling out to enjoy a short stay there in a few days time. It will be our first time staying there so suspect we shall have a very busy time.
We currently live in the West Highlands of Scotland.
We didn't really intend buying a cave house, although I had done quite a lot of researching into them. This house was actually at the bottom of our shortlisted properties before we started viewing them. It was also the last place we looked at, but (as they say) it ticked all the boxes.
Anyway, good to be here and look forward to perhaps meeting some of you.
All the best,
John (higgy).

Good luck in your new cave house. Enjoy!
It is hard work initially, but well worth the effort.
The weather at this time of year is great. Hot in the daytime, but you will need to pack a fleece for the cooler evenings.

From one wonderful place to another then!! Some guys have all the luck, as they say.
You didn't buy the place with the payoff did you? No, that wouldn't be, would it? There are none of those tables here, well hardly. I come accroiss the occasional one in a wealthy spaniards games room.
WELCOME!!

Re: I'm new!
Thanks for all the welcoming comments!
Gilly, I am near Fort William, can see Ben Nevis from my front windows! Used to be further north in Gairloch. I work in Orkney very often, Mainland, Westray and N.Ronaldsay, lovely Islands. Yes we are looking forward to a welcome break from the rain! I think we get the same amount of rain in Fort William in December as Baza gets all year!
Spiceman, I am a curry lover so may well come looking for you! Whereabouts is the car boot sale? I guess the clue is in the name but not sure where that is.
Sierra satellites, I am afraid you lost me with all that talk of pay-offs and tables!! I am intrigued but been no pay-offs coming my way unfortunately!
The house did/does have internet access via ‘Avired’ I believe, tried to contact them regarding taking over the connection but no reply to my email. Does anyone know if Avired is one and the same as Iberbanda?
There is my first question to the collective!
Thanks again for the welcomes.
All the best,
John.

Welcome to the forum John, nice to have another native Scot on here.
I'm sure Avired are the same as Iberbanda, I think Avired is just the name on the equipment. If I'm wrong there will be someone along soon to correct me. So many helpful people on here, just ask away, as many questions as you like, we all love to pass on our information.

Hi Higgy
I'm not sure about telling you where the boot sale is other than in the lorry park of The Hotel Abadi. I come from Pierda Amarilla so not all that familiar with Baza, someone here is bound to be able to give you directions from your location. Cheers Spicey

Hello Higgy,
The car boot is literally off the roundabout on the 'Baza Este (east)' junction (sorry, can't remember the J number) on the A92n behind the Hotel Abadi; you can't miss it as the car park, at the front of the hotel, is always full of cars and lorries.

Re: I'm new!
Thanks everyone. Back from our week in Zujar and first visit to our cave house. Had a great time. Found the car boot sale, although a bit quiet on account of the rain. Managed to get some painting done outside and several other jobs. Went into Granada for the first time, lovely city.
Watched Eagles soaring over the house.
Looking forward to many more visits and eventually permanent habitation!
Cheers! Higgy.

Welcome to the forum. It sounds as if your first proper stay was enjoyable, bit of a change from scotland!
